who I am

About the Artist

I create art because I want to. It’s what I have always done.  Rich, vivid colors tempt me; they are the most appealing due to a rare and genetic color deficiency.   My abstract paintings are a product of playfulness and exploration.   Guided at times by impulsivity, I delight in discovering colors, textures and patterns that perform in concert.  At other times, I am inspired to paint more literally, which challenges me to get quiet and focus on the details.  The method I choose may depend upon my mood or my surroundings.  Though I have studied many forms of art, acrylic paints are my chosen vehicle for self expression these days.

After several years as a professional muralist, painting on the walls of nearby homes and businesses, I recently decided to shift my focus.  While I still enjoy working closely with clients to create their vision in their home or office, I also have a few visions of my own.  On a smaller scale, working on canvas, there is freedom to explore colors, shapes, patterns and new ideas.

A New York native, I was raised in New Jersey and received my BFA from the University of Delaware.  My subsequent career included metal-smithing, graphic design and motherhood before starting my mural business in 2004.  My family and I headed south to Maryland in 2005, where I currently reside in Severna Park with my husband and two children.
